FILENAMES: Flame_Licker1.jpg Flame_Licker2.jpg Flame_Licker3.jpg DESCRIPTION: These are pictures of "flame licker" style model engine which were posted to help explain construction techniques. Thanks to Carl Swanstrom . Carl provided the following description: ============================================================= Here are 3 pics of a model Flame Licker with the intake port in the cylinder head. I bought this at NAMES 2 years ago and it runs like a charm. Do not remember the name of the builder. The valve is a feeler gage or could be made from shim stock. A grove is machined in the head for the flat sliding valve. Hope this helps. Carl --------------- The following snip from r.c.m by webmaster is related: Tinker, I have a flame licker that I bought at NAMES 2 years ago with the valve port at the cylinder end. The slide valve is a piece of feeler gage. The linkage is very simple. The crank driven cam was made from flat stock. I could try to take some pictures an email to you if intereted. My drafting skills are marginal at best. Carl
