South Bend used the standard gearbox off of a 9"/10K lathe for the optional table drive on their milling machines. It has 30 feeds from 1/4" thru 15"/minute. The gearbox chart was relabled accordingly. My mill did not have a drive shaft when it was acquired, but the rest was there. The requirement is for a 3 stage telescopic. This was made with the idea of getting something made "quickly" with odds & ends in the shop. It does not exactly reproduce the stock shaft, which uses moslty hex sections. I wobble broached the larger brass bore. The missing universal joint was made from 954 aluminum bonze, 3/16" dowel pins, and a steel spider.
