Needed a temporary lathe to turn porch columns. Wooden columns, with 1-1/2" sched. 80 pipe epoxied in the middle. Lathe will be used to sand the pipes, then wet-sand with epoxy as part of lamination process. Columns will then be milled on the lathe with a router, using a hardinge dividing head set up in place of the tailstock (not shown). Temporary lathe is made using headstock & tailstock from a Hardinge Cataract "split bed" metal lathe. Adapted by making steel split bed style riser blocks shown, to match parts to top of existing clamp carrier beam. (W-4 steel beam)
